Dear Residents of District 90,
It has truly been an honor and humbling experience serving as your representative in the South Carolina General Assembly. I have focused my time on working to ensure that District 90 has all of the resources and tools needed to improve all segments of the district. I continue to believe that state laws should mean what they say, and say what they mean.
Through working with my colleagues, both Democrats and Republicans, we have been able to make some important gains on issues which include beginning the process to restore funding to our public schools, increasing teacher pay, assisting farmers recover from the historic floods of 2015, passing a law requiring law enforcement to wear body cameras, ending the law enforcement ticket quota system which has unfairly impacted South Carolinians in District 90 and across the state. Moreover, I was proud to have had an active role in the debate to remove our state’s most divisive image, the Confederate Battle Flag, from the Statehouse Grounds. It was during that difficult process that I watched leaders in our state quickly come together to make meaningful change.
I have always been a firm believer in the value of service over self. I was taught this by my parents who have dedicated their lives to public service by serving as law enforcement agents over the past twenty years. I care about all residents of District 90 because it is here that I learned the values that have shaped me into the person I am today. I hope that you will continue to pray for me and continue to work with me as we tackle the challenges we face as a district and as a State. I know by working together we can make District 90 and all of South Carolina the best that it can be.
Sincerely,
We face many challenges in South Carolina. I believe it is important that the South Carolina General Assembly prioritize and focus our energy on the real issues impacting South Carolina. The core issues that I will continue to work to address include:
- Finding adequate and stable funding sources to fix South Carolina roads and bridges
- Recruiting and expanding economic development and job creation opportunities (specifically focusing on rural communities like District 90)
- Reforming the Public Education Funding System
- Raising Teacher Pay to the national average
- Expanding healthcare coverage and options (specifically focusing on rural communities like District 90)
- Supporting South Carolina farmers and the Agriculture Industry
- Reforming South Carolina’s Criminal Justice system to ensure that all South Carolinians are protected and treated fairly
